A few brand new favourites:
Who needs words? Not the new picture books below, that's for sure. They are all beautiful and they have strong narratives, without the use of words. I am a huge fan of wordless picture books. I love the space they give children's imaginations. I love the confidence they can give a child struggling with reading. I love the conversations they generate. One even won the prestigious Caldecott Medal in 2012; A Ball for Daisy by Chris Raschka is a masterpiece. The illustrations are subtle, there is no text, but the emotions are so clear.
